The Countdown to Futurama Begins…

Good news, everyone! It’s been a long, bumpy ride for Futurama—after being bounced around and eventually cancelled by Fox, airing sporadically on the Cartoon Network and Comedy Central, and revived in a series of straight-to-DVD movies, the show is finally about to come roaring back to geeky, glorious life in exactly one week. Around the Tor.com offices, we could not possibly be more excited about this—where else on television can you find a steady diet of alien/robot/evil scientist/math/physics/pop culture jokes, along with a heaping helping of Hypnotoad?

We’re counting down to the big Comedy Central premiere (Thursday, June 24th at 10 PM EST) by obsessively watching (and quoting) our favorite clips, along with the mega-recap of the first five seasons below. Please enjoy the smarmy charms of Captain Zapp Brannigan as he guides you through all the misty, water-colored memories of the 31st century, then check out the first ninety seconds of the new series)…and as always, please remember: WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!

Leela: Fry, we have a crate to deliver.
Fry: Well, let’s just dump it in the sewer and say we delivered it.
Bender: Too much work. Let’s burn it and say we dumped it in the sewer.
Leela: OK, if everyone’s finished being stupid—
Fry: I had more, but you go ahead.
Leela: We’ll go deliver this crate like professionals, and then we’ll go home.
Fry: But I’ve never been to the moon!
Leela: OK, we’ll go deliver this crate like professionals, and then we’ll go ride the bumper cars.

I can’t wait for Season 6! Let’s just hope that it’s not cancelled AGAIN straight after.

Is there any way to get that recap in the UK? Also, will series six get over the channel any time soon?

If not, I will have to blame Kiff.

So looking forward to this!

Fry: This was our storage closet. My Dad spent years turning it into a bomb shelter.
Leela: [sadly] And yet you guys never had a single nuclear war.
Bender: [sadly] What a waste.

“My weight is appropriate and attractive!”

“How’s the family, Morbo?”
“BELLIGERENT AND NUMEROUS.”
“Good, good, Nixon’s pro-war and pro-family.”

“Teeth do not belong in your pants, Professor.”

“You came from my back fat, and I can send you straight back there!”

And, while not technically a quotation, the “I will wait for you” song/sequence with Seymour the dog. It actually made me cry.

Can’t wait for the new season!!!

I can’t wait for new futurama episodes! I’ve always enjoyed watching it. However, I absolutely refuse to watch the episode with Seymour the dog. It’s too sad.
